That book is terrible., and I listed the myraid of reasons why the book was bad in the review. 2Bnondisclosed_email@example.com (Two Bears)Sun, 16 Oct 2005 15:22:50 +0000 Re: Origins of Huna: Secret Behind the Secret Sciencehttps://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298764,from=rss#post298764https://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298764,from=rss#post298764Yes, I did read through that page on elementals, and after a bit of reflection on such wisdom as the following ... quote:Elementals can never be defeated in a direct struggle. We believe that in order to move beyond the chains of the past it is best to recognize their source - using reason - and then work to replace and transcend them. We need to let go of, and not dwell on, past events. In letting go of the past -- which is behind us and unchangeable --, we dis-energize the elementals that weigh us down, depriving them of their life-blood. We can then live unfettered in the present. Let today belong to today, and not the pull of yesterday, nor the push of tomorrow. ... HA! YOu may have noticed several paragraphs of finger-pointing and supporting yadayadayada have mysteriously disappeared from my first post this morning.   Ahhhh .... I feel so much better now! Just in case you didn't find it, here's the page regarding, "elementals": http://www.researchers-of-truth.org/ET_elementals.htmnondisclosed_email@example.com (EnergeticHealer)Fri, 14 Oct 2005 16:27:12 +0000 Re: Origins of Huna: Secret Behind the Secret Sciencehttps://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298762,from=rss#post298762https://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298762,from=rss#post298762Ah - so according to Daskalos' definition, the 'prayer picture' used in a Ha Rite is also a 'thoughtform'. And so, I suppose, is the 'karma' created by expectations (beliefs). Thanks for the interesting link, Duane! nondisclosed_email@example.com (daylia4)Fri, 14 Oct 2005 13:14:43 +0000 Re: Origins of Huna: Secret Behind the Secret Sciencehttps://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298761,from=rss#post298761https://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298761,from=rss#post298761Michelle... Just to set the record straight, Daskalos was not a black magician. He was a healer first and teacher second, though those 2 facets ran very close to each other in his life. He identified as Christian, yet said that the message of Jesus was twisted over time to suit political agendas. He remembered all of his lifetimes, including one as a child when Jesus came through his village. He never accepted any payment for healing work that he did, considering it to be "wrong" to do that. Among the many things that he said, that opened my perceptions, was that if someone comes to you for a healing, and you know how to help, but turn them away, you accept karmic responsibility for their condition. He also said that it's possible to accept someone else's karma, under certain circumstances, as an act of compassion. As a teacher, he taught a complete framework... a complete system. It included everything from moral values to working with "elementals" (which he said everyone does and that the task is to do so with purpose, rather than haphazardly...), to astral travel (working as an "invisible helper", he called it), to karma and much more. He called the members of his circles of students he had in various cities of Cypress (he was a Greek Cypriot...), "Researchers of Truth". By far, the most profound person I have come across in my readings... http://www.researchers-of-truth.org/ nondisclosed_email@example.com (EnergeticHealer)Fri, 14 Oct 2005 09:47:17 +0000 Re: Origins of Huna: Secret Behind the Secret Sciencehttps://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298760,from=rss#post298760https://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298760,from=rss#post298760quote:That may not be be s-t-r-e-a-t-c-h-i-n-g things as much as you think, in my direct experience / explorations Y'know Duane, after reflecting on your insightful response (and thanks very much for that!), I do see now what you, and MFL mean. I too have had direct personal experiences with "shamen" (sorcerers) who had become adept at installing "thoughtforms" in others - not for healing, but to manipulate and use people to serve their own selfish purposes. quote: He was a "miracle healer", who, among other things, created elementals intentionally and charged them with various missions... sometimes giving them awareness... sometimes making them simple devices... Yes, the dark shaman I worked with could do "miracle healings" when he chose to. But more often he just delighted in creating and installing thoughtforms in other people. In my experience to date it's easy, fun and even self-gratifying to 'create thoughtforms' and watch them work. But it's simply NOT necessary at all, to benefit self or others via Huna techniques, to practice energetic healing or magick, or to evolve spiritually. quote:In Huna lore, generating thought forms, as I understand some of the things I've read, do have a place... but that place is more along the lines of sorcery. In fact, one of the books I read about it said that there were / are two kinds of Kahunas... Healers and Sorcerers. This is so true ... SO my rule of thumb is - to avoid these common pitfalls as a healer/healee or any type of magical/psychic practitioner, you must put your own ego aside long enough to get down to the real nitty-gritty - ie do the psychic/spiritual "homework" necessary to really KNOW THYSELF! Anyway, thanks again for the insights and the interesting links, Duane! I sent you a PM yesterday from this site - I hope you got it. I'll try sending a private eMail later, just in case. It's so good to hear from you again! Been much much too long - so CHEERS! and best wishes to you and Lynne too! That may not be be s-t-r-e-a-t-c-h-i-n-g things as much as you think, in my direct experience / explorations, but I have heard similar things elsewhere, so who knows...? A famous Russian (who upset a chess match between a Russian who defected to the US and a Russian, playing for the USSR) who I saw featured in a documentary, was said to be able to do things like that. An episode of the X-Files depicted a guy who could influence people's thoughts to the point that he wrote something like "Police", by hand, on a blank piece of paper and wore it as a "badge", and people accepted it as real. The same guy went to a bank and convinced a teller to give him a large sum of money as a test for then- Premiere Stalin (or Lenin...?) To me, the most fascinating and eye- opening person I've ever read about was "Stylianos Ateshlis" (if I remember the spelling correctly), a.k.a. "Daskalos", in the book, "The Magus of Strovolos", http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0140190341/qid=1071184547//ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i0_xgl14/102-8876191-5655355?v=glance&s=books&n=507846   (an absolute "must- read"...) and the two sequels to it. Daskalos got into thought forms (which he called, "elementals" heavily. He said that our personalities are actually the sum total of the elementals that we have created throughout all of our lifetimes. He was a "miracle healer", who, among other things, created elementals intentionally and charged them with various missions... sometimes giving them awareness... sometimes making them simple devices... In Huna lore, generating thought forms, as I understand some of the things I've read, do have a place... but that place is more along the lines of sorcery. In fact, one of the books I read about it said that there were / are two kinds of Kahunas... Healers and Sorcerers. Definitely the kind of stuff that has a potential for abuse in the wrong hands... I'm currently reading, "The Reluctant Healer", by David Elliot http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0975391003/qid=1129238034/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-9016995-8690532?v=glance&s=books&n=507846   Very good book, BTW. In it, he speaks some (it's not the focus of the book...) of Light vs. Dark energies. He sums the dynamic as this: The "Power of Love", vs. the "Love of Power". Interesting way to put it, don't you think...?nondisclosed_email@example.com (EnergeticHealer)Thu, 13 Oct 2005 15:14:51 +0000 Re: Origins of Huna: Secret Behind the Secret Sciencehttps://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298758,from=rss#post298758https://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298758,from=rss#post298758http://www.angelfire.com/mo/huna/magician.html Duane, that's a link an article called "How to Become a Magician" at Max Freedom Long's website (the author of hte book you mentioned). While I'm grateful to MFL for introducting Huna teachings/techniques to western practitioners back in the early 20th century, I am not comfortable with some of the attitudes/teachings he presents. For example, from the article at the link: quote:When you can accumulate a very large surcharge, you can then begin practicing to learn Mesmerism, which is causing the mana surcharge to flow through your hands or along your line of vision into a subject, carrying with it well-made mental pictures or thought-form clusters (which you will have made in advance by the use of your "will"). If your mana, which is the vital force of the body, is sufficiently accumulated and is discharged strongly into the subject, it will over-power the basic self in him and force him to accept the mental pictures as his own, then react to them. Healing magic is performed in this way.       The subject can be made to relax, to sleep, and so on. If the shock of mana is sufficient, and the thought-form cluster made with enough power, it can break up and replace complexes in the basic self of the subject.... Maybe it's just a very poor choice of words, or perhaps I'm just WAY too leery about such things, but Sorry! I personally would not let a so-called "healer" with that particular set of ideas/intentions near me with a 10-foot pole. Life has presented me with more than enough opportunities already to experience being "forced", "overwhelmed", "shocked" into "accepting" the will of another. So, I prefer a gentler, more loving approach myself - and that's the way I practice Huna too!nondisclosed_email@example.com (daylia4)Thu, 13 Oct 2005 11:34:31 +0000 Origins of Huna: Secret Behind the Secret Sciencehttps://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298757,from=rss#post298757https://bhuna101.runboard.com/p298757,from=rss#post298757Hey, Two Bears...
